NEET UG 2025 for PwD Candidates: Guidelines & Support


Introduction


The NEET UG 2025 exam provides opportunities for students with disabilities (PwD - Persons with Disabilities) to pursue MBBS, BDS & AYUSH courses in India. The government ensures inclusive education by offering special guidelines, relaxations, and support systems during the examination & counselling process. Understanding these provisions helps PwD candidates plan effectively & compete on a level playing field.

Eligibility Criteria & Relaxations for PwD Candidates



  1. Minimum Age & Qualification



  • Must be 17 years or older by December 31, 2025.

  • Completion of 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology & English.



  1. Minimum Marks & Percentile Relaxation



  • PwD candidates are eligible for 5% relaxation in NEET qualifying percentile:

    • General PwD: 45th percentile

    • SC/ST/OBC PwD: 40th percentile



  • Minimum marks in PCB for eligibility are 45% for general PwD & 40% for reserved categories.



  1. Definition of Disability



  • Disability should be 40% or more as certified by a government-approved medical board.

  • Categories include locomotor disability, visual impairment, hearing impairment, and others as per guidelines.


Exam Support & Accommodations



  1. Scribe Facility



  • Candidates with visual, motor, or dyslexia-related impairments can request a scribe to write answers.

  • Scribe request must be made during the NEET UG 2025 application and approved by authorities.



  1. Extra Time



  • PwD candidates may receive additional time during the exam as per the degree of disability.



  1. Special Examination Centers



  • Centres are allocated to ensure accessibility, including wheelchair access and other facilities.


Counselling & Seat Reservation



  1. Horizontal Reservation



  • 5% of seats across AIQ & state quota are reserved for PwD candidates.

  • Reservation applies horizontally, meaning it is available across all categories (General, SC, ST, OBC).



  1. Document Verification



  • PwD candidates must provide a disability certificate issued by a recognized medical board during counselling.



  1. Support During Counselling



  • Assistance is provided at counselling centres for filling choices and submitting documents.
